Design Trends: Fall/Winter 2018

The definition of a visual addict: A person who has a strong desire or urge to get indescribable pleasure from observing art (especially photography).

Yup, that pretty much sums me up! At school I was branded a visual learner. Photography and illustrations are what excite me the most, closely followed by fonts and the best representations of all three - magazine layouts - could literally give me an orgasm. I’m a total design geek and I’ve been known to obsess over the perfect font and size for a week, yes really!

So, when it comes to finalising my mood board for the season, you can imagine how excited I get, and how long it takes me to put it together! It’s the culmination of so many design elements and bits of inspiration I collect throughout the year which takes me weeks to perfect, but when I finally get it just right, it’s such a satisfaction! Every image represents a core value of my brand and is my inspiration for the current season.

DESIGN CONCEPT FOR FALL / WINTER ’18

This season’s collection represents the evolution of my brand and vision: Italian youthful elegance and everyday chicness. I love mixing classic minimalist shapes with vibrantly coloured leathers that are lightweight, supple and utterly modern. I was inspired by a beautiful aubergine shade which I mixed with a contrasting forest green interior. Warm earth tones such as purple, cognac and forest green are rich, full-blooded and invigorating, and a great palette for the start of the colder season.

My signature smooth bonded contrast leather is still at the core of the collection, but I felt the need to add a more grown-up look for the woman who wants to elevate her outfit even further. To me, crocodile has always represented elegance and class, think Grace Kelly in the 1950’s and 60’s. The Loren Tote and Amalfi Ruched Tote in grey, brown and aubergine crocodile embossed leather feel elegant and accomplished while looking modern and sharp.

I also added a full range of small leather goods because you can never have too many pouches to help organise your life, including a ‘Store All’ bag which can be converted into a micro mini crossbody, a cosmetics case, an envelope tablet clutch, a credit card holder and a coin purse.

As always, my focus has been on the foundation of my brand, which is based on exceptional quality and refined craftsmanship. My goal is to cut through the whims of trends and seasons with investment pieces that offer versatility, longevity and sustainability, bringing you elevated basics and everyday luxury pieces with trans-seasonal appeal.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the new collection and if you’re a design geek like me, click on over to Pinterest and follow my inspiration boards :)
